Unite Conference 2018 ~ Nashville

Do you ever feel that you wait months for something, prepare for and then it arrives and you still don't quite know what to expect?

My husband and I are in Nashville this week. We have had some vacation days and today we head out of town to the Gaylord Opryland Hotel for an enormous conference. Hundreds of retailers and media people.

As a new author, I don't exactly know what to expect. I have been in contact with several media people, have been given questions to look at and I have an author book signing time spotlighting my book, Not Really A Princess, but I think this will be a great learning experience. I am also glad that many of these people are already interested in my book that comes out next summer, It's Not About The Pie.

My busiest day looks to be Monday. You may all be able to view my interview with book reviewer, Donna Feyen, on Facebook Live on Monday, July 9 at 2:30pm central time. This would be an opportunity for you to get to know me a little better and see what motivates me to write about life.

Thank you all, dear readers for your support. And prayers are welcome!

No Moms Left

There are signs everywhere.

Signs of Mother's Day.

I glanced a side glance at the card section at a local store. They were there. An entire row. Brightly colored, flowery pictures, scripted writing. Hundreds. A literal wall of pink.

Signs outside every store for sales to honor one's mom. Hanging baskets grace the outside of the local grocery. Beautiful handbags in pale spring colors inside a discount store.

It's coming. Soon. Sunday.

It has been years since my husband's grandmas have passed. I used to send many cards out to those wonderful women. Then three years ago I lost my own dear Moma. There was an ache but I still had a mom to send a card to on the holiday.

Until now.

My husband's mom passed away a couple months ago. And I recently realized that I had no moms or grandmas to send to and it made me very sad. It's true I have "motherly figures" in my life that I hold very dear. But the sadness remains.

I sent cards to other loved ones. I am celebr…

He Has Your Back

I am sure you have heard the old question --when you see the word "therefore" you have to see what it's "there for". I think one that stands out the most is in Hebrews 12:1-3.

"Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance, and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him, endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you may not grow weary and lose heart."

I have read this passage dozens of times, I have it underlined in my Bible but as I was studying chapter 11 and kept reading into 12, a bell went off in my head. I am not quite sure why the chapter break is even there. I mean, it is a great passage by its…

What Goes Around, Comes Around

Yesterday was an interesting travel day. I am attending a conference in the lovely Pocano Mountains in Pennsylvania. My husband was asking why they would have it in PA in January. I think he was hoping for warm weather. That is partly because we are from the west and the mountains are big and the passes are more difficult. It was an easy drive on highway the entire way though and the mountains are more like hills. You are gradually climbing. I kept thinking how gorgeous it must be in the fall with all the colorful leaves on the many, many trees.

My husband, Craig was returning from a business trip and was going to meet me at Newark airport. His flight would get in about an hour before mine and then he would be able to come with me. Yay!

I got up at 4am Boise time and went to the airport and had no issues getting on my flight. I benefit from Craig's air miles and am a lifetime 1K so I am able to get on the plane first. I got on the plane, found my seat and put my briefcase in the …
