I Know My Redeemer LIves

Do you read the book of Job? You may think that it is depressing but I find it encouraging. Why? Because Job is a man who loses everything. His family, friends and all his possessions YET he does not fail in his faithfulness to God.  Late in the book he does get a little full of himself because he is beginning to think, wow, I have not faltered. But then God puts him in his place and then in chapter 40 verses 3-5 he says, "Then Job answered the Lord and said, 'Behold, I am insignificant; What can I reply to Thee? I lay my hand on my mouth. Once I have spoken, and I will not answer; even twice, and I will add no more."

So, Job basically is like, "What in the world am I saying to the mighty God of all?" I better stop that thinking immediately!

When I was in college, at a Christian college, I was surrounded by many kids who had grown up in a loving Christian home. I was a newer believer and my mom, sister and I had just gotten saved a few years before and things were rough at home. Sometimes I was so depressed at college. I was a broken person, I felt unworthy and unloved. BUT all these kids who knew their Bible would share verses with me. It was a blessing in so many ways and kept me afloat. I was drowning you see. I would withdraw and not talk to people or sometimes I would just stand under a rain gutter and let the water pour over me hoping it would somehow take away my pain. One verse that was shared with me many times was from Job. 23:10-12, "But He knows the way I take; when He has tried me, I shall come forth as gold. My foot has held fast to His path; I have kept His way and not turned aside. I have not departed from the command of His lips; I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food."

That is an amazing promise. I clung to it for years and it always pops in my mind. And today I want to share Job 19:25-27 with you. This was shared in my Sunday school class this week. I circled it and wanted to share with you. "And as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last He will take His stand on the earth. Even after my skin is destroyed, Yet from my flesh I will see God."

We have been studying about Heaven. EVERYTHING about it. Have you ever done that? It is helpful to keep your focus on eternity. I know my Redeemer lives.  I pray you do too. Then you can see Him too, dear friend.

Romans 10:9, "That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved;"
